The Shipping Box / Storage Box and Packing PeanutsWhere ever possible, we change out the original shipping box and use an Indestructo storage box (brown or white) rated by the manufacturer to be crush resistant up to 200 lbs of pressure. The peanuts around the ornament stand provide additional cushioning. Do not discard the Indestructo box or packing peanuts included with your products unless you do not plan to store your tree at all. A use and care label is usually taped inside of the shipping box. Remove it and attach it to your receipt for safe keeping. Your ornament tree will be easier to clean if you disassemble it first. Ornament Tree Accessories: Unless you purchased one of our acid free storage containers, store your ornament hangers, glass drops, glass garland, etc. in the Indestructo shipping box in which it was shipped. The sterling silver plated, 14K gold or gold filled ornaments hooks should be wiped occasionally with a soft, clean, dry cloth or cleaned with a product approved for that use. An occasional wipe with a soft, dry cloth will keep your products clean. Store in an archival quality box or wrap in archival tissue or archival shred before storing in a regular cardboard box or plastic tub. Do not use water when cleaning your tree or ornament tree accessories. Brass Plated Ornament Tree: Most of our brass plated trees or ornament hooks items are lacquered to prevent tarnish. Occasionally, a brass-plated tree may get dark spots or discolorations called "pitting" from exposure to moisture and humidity. To prevent tarnish, do not display your tree in direct sunlight or near a source of heat. To remove those stains, gently rub with the polishing cloth included in our Ornament Collectors' Kit or use a soft cloth dampened with a small quantity of a fine quality metal polish that is approved for use on brass plate. Follow the manufacturers cleaning product instructions. If you do not display your tree year round, put the cleaned tree back in the Indestructo shipping/storage box we provided. Chrome Plated Ornament Tree: To remove pitting on the chrome ornament tree, gently rub with a soft cloth dampened by a small quantity of a fine quality polish that is approved for use on chrome or chrome plate. Follow the cleaning product instructions. Or, gently rub with the polishing cloth included in an Ornament Collectors' Kit, You can also use a soft cloth dampened with a small quantity of a fine quality metal polish that is approved for use on chrome plate. In addition, most of them include tarnish resistant tissue or tarnish resistant bubble wrap for storage. To remove those stains, gently rub with a polishing cloth or use a soft cloth dampened with a tiny quantity of a fine quality silver polish that is approved for use on silver or lacquered silver plate. Follow the instructions for your cleaning product. If you do not display your tree year round, wrap the tree in tarnish resistant tissue and put the cleaned tree back in the Indestructo storage box we provided, an archival quality storage box or the shipping box. Green, Ivory/White, Copper, Black, Gold or Silver Painted Ornament Tree: An occasional wipe with a soft, cloth should keep your ornament tree free of dust.
