NOTE: These
instructions may not apply to all of the pre-lighted ornament trees on
our website. Every manufacturer has its' own method for attaching lights
to an artificial tree. However, you can use it as a general guide
for what looks to be a complicated procedure.
Keep in mind that In many
cases, the light strand is one very long, continuous cord with lights
all of the same size. The strand has been twisted together into sections
first. Then, each section is strung around the right and left branches
on each level of the tree. In some cases, particularly with our stick
or twig trees, adjoining branches on each side are twisted or looped
together in order to secure the light strand.
To remove the lights,
start at the top most section of the tree. Gently unwind the lights from
around the finial section or branch. Where the lights strand is secured
by the twig arms of the tree, gently untwist the arms, then gently
remove the light strand from between them.
Repeat this same
procedure for the branches on every tier of the tree, removing lights
from left to right (or from right to left) as you move down the tree.
When you are finished, you should have one continuous strand of lights.
For more decorating
impact or year around use, you can change out the purple, amber or
orange lamps on trees with clear lights if you wish. If you remove
the strand first, it will easier to replace each lamp. But, far more
complicated ( in our opinion) to remember how the strands were
originally arranged. ALSO, BE SURE TO GET THE SAME SIZE REPLACEMENT
LAMP. Miniature lights appear to be the same size. However, they
vary in volts and amperage. The replacement lamp must
match the existing one in size, volts and amps. Follow the
manufacturer's instructions for purchasing replacement lamps. Or take a
look at the Christmas
tree and home decorating lights available in our store.
Most standard replacement
bulbs are in a green husk. The husk is the part of the lamp holder with
two flat sides and two tiny holes on either side into which the lamp is
inserted and the connectors bent upwards. To replace the lamp, you would
have to remove the clear lamp from the green husk, remove the orange or
purple light from its' the black husk, then, insert the clear lamp into
the black husk and lastly, re-insert the black husk into the black wired
base on the strand. Just follow the manufacturer's instructions for
changing the lamps that are included with the tree. Replace one or two
lamps first, then plug in the strand to make sure that it is working and
you've installed the lamps correctly. Continue following the
instructions until you've replaced all of the lamps.
To the best of my
knowledge as yet, no one is making clear colored miniature lights in a
black husk (holder). That will probably change if decorating for
Halloween becomes more widespread and the decorations themselves
continue to become more
sophisticated.
Keep the extra fuse (if
included), extra bulbs and instructions together. You can decorate with
them elsewhere or put them back on the tree at a later time.
